Georgetown Globe Productions
is a musical theatre group whose members live in Halton Hills and the
surrounding areas. For more than 20 years Globe has been providing local
audiences with top-notch musical theatre and winning quite a few awards in the
process. Throughout its history Globe Productions has gleaned from the Halton
community a wide array of talent that is manifest both onstage and off. Its
members come from all walks of life and encompass all ages.
Globe started out way back in
1964 with the pantomime Dick Whittington. By 1968, Globe had progressed
to full-fledged musical productions like Finian’s Rainbow
and My Fair Lady.
After 1968, the members of Globe took a hiatus from producing shows. In 1982
Globe reappeared on the local scene and has been performing shows annually since
then. The construction of the John Elliott Theatre in downtown Georgetown gave
Globe the perfect venue in which to perform and hone its craft.
According to the group’s By-laws, the raison d’etre of Globe Productions
is to study and perform musical theatre as well as stimulate and encourage
interest in such theatre for the benefit and betterment of its members and the
community as a whole.
Those people who have seen Globe’s shows agree that Globe has more than lived up to its mandate.
